Norah Jones

Geethali Norah Jones Shankar was born March 30, 1979 in New York City. Her father was Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar. Norah Jones was raised in Texas by her mother. She attended a performing arts high school in Dallas and then attended the University of North Texas where she majored in jazz piano. Her debut album Come Away With Me was a massive success - both commercially and critically. Her second album Feels Like Home had more of a country influence compared to the jazz sound of Norah Jones' first album. Her third album, Not Too Late, was released in early 2007. It was the first album where Norah wrote all the songs herself.
